Day 156: February 28, 2005 - Towers of the Virgin

by Christian Williams
As the sun started to go down, the shadows rose up from the canyon floor, creating interesting depth and texture on the canyon walls.

Day 152: February 24, 2005 - Snowy Peaks

by Christian Williams
After the storm from the previous day cleared, Zion was once again filled with beautiful blue skies and snow capped peaks. I returned to the main canyon, and liked the silhouette that frames the cliffs of main canyon.

Day 125: January 28, 2005 - Zion Canyon

by Christian Williams
I enjoyed spending time walking through the main canyon of Zion today. I strolled through the meadow and stopped to take some photos of the mountains looming ahead.

Day 92: December 26, 2004 - Zion Panorama

by Christian Williams
I went camping in the Coal Pits Wash area, which affords beautiful views of Zion from a different perspective. This panorama shows the back side of the cliffs which make up the main canyon of Zion, a spectacular and awe-inspiring sight.

Day 65: November, 29 2004 - Moon Over Zion

by Christian Williams
One of the great sights of Zion is when you are coming down the switchbacks from east Zion into the main canyon and you see this magnificent wall of mountains, West Temple, Towers of the Virgin, and the Altar of Sacrifice. This scene was especially great today as the full moon from the night before was setting behind these cliffs. I used my 500mm lens, to get a great close-up of these iconic peaks, which had the effect of enlarging the moon against the backdrop of the mountains.

Receding Blue Skies

The day started out with sunshine, but the blue skies were overpowered once again by the incoming storm. The brilliant blue skies create a vivid contrast to the red rocky slopes of East Zion.

West Temple and Towers of the Virgin

This is one of the most famous scenes in Zion National Park. The breathtaking West Temple is seen while driving along the main canyon of the park, towering above this lovely valley, golden with the yellow grasses of the Fall.
