Day 227: May 10, 2005 - Fog Surrounds the Mountains

This was a dreary foggy day in the canyon, but I like the way the fog makes the mountains seem mysterious and dark. When the sun streamed through a small break in the fog, I quickly took some pictures of the rays of light.

On the way home, I once again spotted the bald eagle. It seems to like this area. It looks angry and beautiful staring down at me.

I went for a walk along Pine Creek this morning, and the fog rolling in and out created fantastic lighting on the mountains of main canyon.

I spent this foggy morning taking pictures in East Zion. As I traveled toward the tunnel into Main Canyon, I stopped to take in the view of this twisting canyon with snow capped Bridge Mountain in the background.

On my way home the fog rolled in to cover most of Long Valley, the area a few miles east of Zion National Park. The dreamy beauty of this scene had to be captured. Although not technically in Zion National Park, the mountains of this area also are spectacular, with a similar geology.

Day 73: December 7, 2004 - Dreary Winter Days

It is unusual in Southern Utah to experience many days of winter that are shrouded in clouds and fog, but this winter seemed unusually cold and dreary, with more snow and clouds than are often found in the perpetually sunny end of the state of Utah.

Day 72: December 6, 2004 - Images in the Fog

This foggy morning produced some dramatic images. As the fog ebbed and flowed different scenes would emerge from the shadows, as hidden views were uncovered.
